KeHO – Central Finland Health and Wellbeing Ecosystem brings together operators and experts on social welfare, healthcare and sports.

KEHO – Central Finland Health and Wellbeing Ecosystem brings together operators and experts on social welfare, healthcare and sports. With the help of interdisciplinary cooperation, we aim to improve and promote health and wellbeing.

Our goal is to make Central Finland an internationally competitive centre of wellbeing, health promotion, social welfare, sports, physical activity, rehabilitation, health-related business and research. KEHO is a newly founded network, and we aim to create a platform for cooperation, sharing information and strengthening the bond between different operators in the field.

KEHO benefits from the exceptional strengths of Central Finland: we excel in cooperation, research on social, health and sports sciences as well as other health-related matters, and have a wide variety of health-related businesses and third sector operators in the area.

Our goals include:

Goal 1: We provide an exceptional and multiprofessional research environment that is a perfect platform for unique innovations enabled by interdisciplinary expertise.

Goal 2: We value multiprofessional and interdisciplinary education and development.

Goal 3: We turn expertise on health and wellbeing into an ambitious, international business.

Goal 4: We highlight the exceptional knowhow already in the region.

Who are we?

Central Finland has internationally acknowledged expertise in sports physical activity. It is the home for the only Faculty of Sport and Health Sciences in Finland (University of Jyväskylä), LIKES Research Centre for Physical Activity and Health, the only medical specialist field of Sports and Exercise Medicine in Finland (Central Finland Health Care District), KIHU Research Institute for Olympic Sports, as well as a wide variety of third sector operators (KesLi). This expertise improves the all-round wellbeing of everyone in the region, and makes Central Finland an internationally high-class centre of sports-related knowledge.

Health-related innovations and businesses in Central Finland have the potential to make it worldwide and find global solutions to improve the wellbeing of young families and the elderly, maintain work ability, and prevent the social exclusion of children and adolescents.

In Central Finland, we also have a wide variety of businesses and third sector operators that work with health and wellbeing. On top of that, the New Hospital Nova and the Hippos Complex for Sports and Wellbeing are under construction. This unique set of operators makes Central Finland the perfect place for a Centre of Excellence on Wellbeing.

What do we do?

KEHO promotes seamless cooperation between operators working with health, wellbeing and sports-related matters. We aim to shed light on shared interests between operators in the fields of sports, health and social services, rehabilitation, education, research and development projects, and businesses. KEHO offers a platform for new kinds of working groups that will promote innovations and develop new ideas as well as coordinate their cooperation, and provide information on their progress and findings. KEHO will turn Central Finland into the leading region in health and wellbeing for the best of everyone in the area. KEHO is international and ambitious.

Our vision: More wellbeing to the world!
